A YEAR OF OUR FOUNDATION

When setting out on this venture, I had know idea how challenging setting up a charity would be.

I have seen, heard and talked about things I scarcely knew existed despite many years experience in the industry. It’s even more challenging when the thing you are hearing, seeing and talking about has huge personal significance and sometimes it’s easy to get the balance of life wrong. However, with the support of great friends, committed trustee’s and passionate supporters, we have scaled the hefty heights of year one and emerged in a really strong position to move forward with our vision of creating an inclusive society where people are not limited by a criminal conviction.

Highlighting key or favourable moments is difficult as each moment has felt monumental in our growth as a charity. Yet the one thing that has remained consistent is the friendship we have developed at 100 & First. We talk to the people we work with in prison a lot about becoming the sum of the people you spend the most time with, and I think the charity has become a reflection of the shared drive, determination and friendship we have at 100 & First.

As we move into year two, I’m looking forward to more success stories, more partnerships, more collaboration and more impacts.

Keep tuned for some exciting developments.

Sam Cload, Head of the 100 & First Foundation
