REDUCING RE-OFFENDING
INSPIRING CHANGE
IT STARTS FROM INSIDE...

INSIDE THE PRISON
100 and First Foundation exists to support offenders transition from prison into society by equipping them with the skills to thrive and the mindset to make positive choices.
The vehicle for this is mentorship: our highly skilled team of mentors work with cohorts of offenders across different programmes of skills development in prisons, culminating in an opportunity to showcase their change to family, friends and their community through a presentation event.
The programmes are just the beginning of a potentially much longer journey of support, if the individual wants it. This encompasses finding and applying for paid employment with one of our partner organisations, finding a home to rent, building a network, and one-to-one mentorship.
Places on our programmes are by application – this is the first step in empowering offenders to represent themselves positively.
And as participants continue through the programme, we offer deeper layers of support as they approach their release day and transition into the community. We have found this opt-in approach positively supports the confidence of those on the programme, and meets whatever needs they have as an individual, without overwhelming them.
We do this with our two projects
INSIDE THE PERSON
A personal journey to shift their identity - from ‘pro-offending’ to ‘pro-social’. This means a shift in the way that the participant sees themselves in the world from an identity that allows offending, to one that encourages an aspirational future that contributes positively to society and avoids re-offending. And our track record is strong, and growing.
At a time when the cost to detain someone is £50k per offender per year, and probation services are stretched and highly risk-averse, 100 and First Foundation offers hope for the future. Which we believe is a basic human right.
